Child hearing loss and its causes
Hearing is one of the most important functions of our organization. Especially for children, along with speech, it is the most important learning tool. For this reason, the assessment of hearing function during infancy is of paramount importance.
The causes of child hearing loss can be classified into prenatal, perinatal and postnatal, that is, those which cause pre-labor, birth-related and post-partum hearing loss.
The most important causes of child hearing loss are:
- Inheritance
- Rubella
- Cytomegalovirus
- Blood incompatibility between mother and child
- Use of ototoxic drugs
- Miningitis
- Mumps
- Infections in the middle ear by eardrum perforation
In order to deal with this problem in time, parents should observe their children’s response to various acoustic stimuli, especially the first months.
